- Labels can be frustrating because I recognize that how I describe myself will instantaneously merit some to be drawn to my words and others to be driven away. I'll be completely honest with you - I'm still trying to figure out myself just how conservative or liberal I am. For example, I believe that their is only one God and one way to God - Jesus Christ. I believe firmly that all others who attempt to be reconciled to God through another means are going to fail in their attempt. I believe in a literal hell that will meet those who attempt to find their salvation in something or someone other than Christ. And yet, my heart breaks for the hurting and oppressed around me and around the world. While I disagree with any gospel that does not center on the atoning work of Christ, I'm able to sympathize with those who preach a social gospel because I believe this loving response to the needy around us was Jesus' own message. There are far too many "conservative" churches self-righteously pointing their fingers at "liberal" churches because they are only feeding the hungry and not preaching the more important truths of the Scriptures - while they themselves do nothing but gather in their social club settings to learn more about Jesus. I'm continually weighing what I believe about grace and works. I wholeheartedly believe in the sovereignty of God. I believe there is nothing good in me and that if any way I love you or serve you or do anything for you that in no way harms you, then it is God who has done such a work. I sincerely believe in the doctrines of the reformed faith and yet reject any notion that works are not expected or important. I'm confident that my view of holiness and works would cause me to frustrate many of my Calvinist friends and they would question whether or not I preached a message of performance. I can only conclude this: My name is Todd Wyrick. I am a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I long to be used by God to open the eyes of the blind and feed the hollow stomachs of the starving. I'm grateful for the opportunity He has given me the last 20 years to lead others to Him and pray for many more years of service. I'm most thankful for the work He has done in me and for the clear evidence of the work of His Spirit. I owe all to Him and continue each day to try to live my life in such a way that the Name of Jesus Christ would be magnified.
